Farsley disbanded

HINCKLEY United's opponents this weekend Farsley Celtic have been disbanded after the club's administrators rejected numerous improved offers from the Palmer-Farrell consortium to keep the club in operation.

Their official expulsion from the Football Conference is expected to occur later this week after they failed to fulfil their last three fixtures.

Heggs departs

HINCKLEY United's Carl Heggs has parted company with the club by mutual consent.

The 39 year-old rejoined in February to help out on a short term basis, but mixing work commitments and playing/training time has been difficult for the striker.

Manager Dean Thomas said: "I'd like to thank Carl for helping us out but he couldn't commit to every game and I need that for the run-in."

DUE to the uncertainty over Saturday's visit to Farsley Celtic, Hinckley United will field a first team in tonight's Rollaston Cup game with Holwell Sports. (7.45pm)

Manager Dean Thomas was initially planning to use a sprinkling of first team players along with squad members and some youth teamers in the fixture as part of a mixed team, but he has opted to field a strong side with Saturday in serious doubt.

Sky Blues chase Franklin

HINCKLEY United defender Connor Franklin will play in a trial game for Coventry City tomorrow afternoon.

A number of Football League clubs are aiming to sign up the 22 year-old former Leicester City trainee, with Crewe Alexandra adding their interest at the weekend.

Franklin will play for the Sky Blues second string against Hereford United at Warwick in the game after manager Chris Coleman invited him to play in the match.

HINCKLEY United manager is challenging his squad to put up a fight and prove they are worthy of a Blue Square North play-off place.

League leaders Fleetwood Town completed the double over the Knitters yesterday and a a massive difference was highlighted in the two squads.

Manager Thomas is not just blaming a difference in resources between the two clubs - he is questioning his own squad's fighting spirit.

A MINUTE'S silence will be held tomorrow at the game between Hinckley United and Fleetwood Town at the Greene King Stadium tomorrow for Keith Alexander who died this week.

HINCKLEY United have clinched a double signing ahead of the visit of league leaders Fleetwood Town to the Greene King Stadium tomorrow. (3pm)

Manager Dean Thomas has been busy in the transfer market after adding former Premiership forward Julian Joachim yesterday.

HINCKLEY United will put details of all signings on the official club website once they have been finalised.

Earlier this week, the Julian Joachim deal was reported on another website - which was a case of jumping the gun and could have scuppered the deal.

The player has only this morning agreed to come on board for the weekend and we are keen to avoid transfer "gossip" scuppering any potential deals in the pipeline.

STRIKER Chukki Eribenne has been ruled out of action for the next fortnight with a hamstring injury.

The forward (above) pulled up in the pre-match warm up against Ilkeston Town with a hamstring tweak and after treatment over the weekend and on Monday evening he has been ruled out of action.

LEICESTER City reserves are back in action at Hinckley United's Greene King Stadium on Tuesday 9th March.

The Foxes second string managed by Gerry Taggart will play Scunthorpe United in the Totesport.com Cup semi final.

Admission is £3 adults, £1 14-16 year olds and free for U16`s accompanied by an adult.

Kick off will be at 2pm. The bar will be open from 1pm.

DEAN Thomas is aiming to boost his squad with some new additions after seeing the lack of strength in depth evident during a 1-0 defeat to lower league rivals Barwell last night.

HINCKLEY United are back in action at home on Monday in the Westerby Cup quarter final against Barwell.

The game was abandoned due to a frozen pitch three weeks ago. Admission is £6 for adults and £4 for concessions and students with a £1 charge for under 12s. The game will kick off at 7.30pm.

The winners will play Oadby Town in the semi final on Tuesday March 16th.
