Super Saturday

HINCKLEY United play their first home pre-season friendly on Saturday when they face Championship side Coventry City at the Greene King Stadium. (3pm)

The Sky Blues - like last season - are bringing a first team squad with them who have high hopes for success in 2010/11.

Both teams kicked off their pre season with a match on Wednesday evening. The Sky Blues faced Nuneaton and drew 0-0 and The Knitters were beaten 2-1 by Atherstone.

For the Hinckley United supporters, it will be a chance to see a number of the new faces challenging for a red and blue shirt in Blue Square Bet North.

Manager Dean Thomas said: "Thank you to Coventry City for once again sending their first team squad and giving us the opportunity , and experience of playing against a Championship club.

"Over the summer, many players have left leaving me with plenty of hard work to replace them and attempt to bring the new squad up to competitive standard to once again bring us a successful season.

"On Saturday, many new faces will be on show, attempting to prove their worth and establish themselves at northern conference level and hopefully enjoy what this new season will bring.

"We hope the supporters turn out in force for the match and enjoy the occasion."

With a large crowd expected after nearly 2000 watched the Sky Blues v Nuneaton in midweek, supporters are encouraged to arrive early to avoid any delays.

Nobby's Bar will be open to both sets of fans from 12 noon and also the VIP Suite is accessible for pre-match diners or those wishing to pay extra for use of the bar which views the stadium. Inside the ground there is the main stand and two terraced areas - all with covering.

A match programme will be available at the bars and inside the ground priced £1. Food concessions are also inside the stadium.

Four youngsters will lead the teams out onto the pitch on Saturday along with club mascot Nobby The Knitter. They are Baillie Goodman, Cliona Lawrance, Lucy Williams and Liam Gutteridge.
