Let's get clinical

HINCKLEY United manager Dean Thomas is urging his squad to be more clinical infront of goal ahead of their game tonight against Gainsborough Trinity at The Greene King Stadium. (7.45pm)

Former Leicester City and Aston Villa manager Brian Little brings his side to line up against the Knitters who stretched their unbeaten home record into a third month after a 0-0 draw with Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday.

James Mace is suspended for the final game of his three match ban while Lee Collins is doubtful with a hamstring strain.

Thomas is keen to pick up some more league points tonight, and avoid any further injuries ahead of Saturday's FA Cup clash away at Rushden and Diamonds.

"I thought Saturday's game was a great advert for Blue Square North, it was a wonderful game with a lot of talented players out there," said Thomas.

"Both sides passed the ball well with good movement and created chances in an end to end match played at a good tempo.

"Our decision making on Saturday was poor, our finishing and final ball wasn't what it should have been. We had chances but for all our effort and energy and those chances we created, I thought we should have worked their keeper more - that was the only aspect of our play that let us down.

"We had enough chances to have won and yet we could have lost it at the end, Chris MacKenzie did well with a block in the second half."

The Knitters boss is pushing his squad to the maximum and it is clearly paying dividends. He added: "I'm challenging these players to improve every week and I think we are. We've had three good months and the lads are all switched on and we make things happen.

"Our work ethic is tremendous and we showed that again on Saturday. They can be proud of their performance against a side near the top of the table but they're disappointed because they know we could have won it."
