Double signing
Mar 5, 2010
HINCKLEY United have clinched a double signing ahead of the visit of league leaders Fleetwood Town to the Greene King Stadium tomorrow. (3pm)
Manager Dean Thomas has been busy in the transfer market after adding former Premiership forward Julian Joachim yesterday.
Striker Andre Gray has joined on loan from League Two side Shrewsbury Town. The 19 year-old signed a First-Year Professional contract at the beginning of the 2009/10 season. He made his debut on the opening day of the 2009-10 season, coming on as a substitute in the Shrews' 3-1 win over Burton Albion. He made his second appearance when he came on as a substitute at 55 minutes when Shrewsbury were chasing the game at 4-0 down. Gray has also been on loan at AFC Telford United.
Manager Dean Thomas said: "Andre will come in upfront for us at the weekend on loan and we'll see how it goes from there.
"We're limited in attack at the minute and we've brought in Andre and the experience of Julian Joachim into the squad and we we have had to increase the numbers due to the amount of games we've got coming up to keep us in the hunt."
Also linking up with the club is defender Danny Pitham who has been the subject of an on-off move back to Hinckley United in recent weeks. After deciding to leave Nuneaton Town where he was put on dual registration with Redditch United, an appearance for the Reds meant he was unable to sign for another Blue Square North club for 14 days. So he opted for a short stay at Bedworth United.
Thomas added: "Danny Pitham wants to come and play for us and under the 14 day league rule he can't sign for us until Friday. He went to Bedworth and Redditch United to get match practise and we put seven days in when he was at Nuneaton and he will come and sign for us as soon as the 14 days is up.
" We are short of bodies at the back and Danny is a good player. People may criticise him and people like Paul Lister saying they aren't good enough but look at him now and he has established himself. Sadly I'm not in the market to go out and sign Premiership centre halves! Danny is a good player and has gained experience and will help us."
The bar will be open to all from 12 noon with the FA Cup game between Portsmouth v Bimringham City live on the big screen. After the game stay on and watch the Fulham v Spurs FA Cup game or Wolves v Manchester United on ESPN. Beer prices start at £2.40 a pint.
Admission to the match is £9 for adults, £6 for concessions including students with a valid ID and £3 for under 16s with free admission to under 12s. Transfer to the main stand is £1 with matchday programmes available at £2.
